Plastic Ban Phase 1 Regulation Alternatives

The Legislative Council passed a bill for regulating disposable plastic tableware and other plastic products on October 18, 2023, stipulating that the first level of control on disposable plastic tableware will be implemented on April 22. Level 1: Restaurants are prohibited from providing (dine-in and take-out) 1) disposable styrofoam tableware, 2) plastic drinking straws, 3) plastic stirring sticks, 4) plastic eating utensils (knives, forks and spoons), 5) plastic plates . In addition, restaurants are also prohibited from (dine-in) providing 1) plastic cups and lids, 2) food containers and lids.
